이예승은 빛, 그림자, 인터렉션 센서 등 물리적 장치들이 만들어내는 스펙터클한 미디어 설치를 통해 우리의 삶 속에서 맞닥뜨리는 물질과 비물질 혹은 가상과 현실의 경계를 탐구해오고 있다. 최근 이예승의 관심사는 물리적 장치를 통한 매체적 실험뿐만 아니라 그러한 기술의 발전과 함께 대두되는 인간의 자의식 기술로 확장된 인간의 감각과 더불어 인간과 사물의 관계성 등으로 관심이 인공지능, 증강현실, 3D 프린트 등의 4차 혁명의 새로운 기술을 통해 확장되고 있다.

이예승 작가는 동양화를 공부하며 체득한 태도 또는 사유 방식을 최신 기술과 교차시키는 작업을 하고 있다. 전시장과 로비 곳곳에 눈길을 끄는 <물아(物我): 구곡소요(九曲逍遙) No.01>는 전통문화에서 영감받아 전통과 근대, 현실과 가상이 자유롭게 소통하는 유희의 장소를 디지털 기술로 구현한 작업이다. QR 코드를 태그 하면 상상치 못한 강렬한 옛 동양화풍의 이미지들이 나타나고, 필터가 켜진 상태에서 전시장을 걷다 보면 마치 다양한 시점이 공존하고 있는 ‘책가도’ 한가운데서 있는 기분이 든다. 시공간을 초월해 책가도가 펼쳐진 듯한 황홀경과 함께 새로운 유희의 공간이 된 전시장을 느껴볼 수 있다.

LEE Yeseung has been exploring the boundaries between material and non-material or virtual and real that we encounter in our lives through spectacular media installations created by physical devices such as light, shadows, and interaction sensors. Her principal interests lie in particular in the various social phenomena that humans face in the media environment and the way humans perceive contemporary times. Her recent interest is expanding, beyond media experiments through physical devices, into the relationship between humans and things as well as human senses extended by self-consciousness technology emerging with such technological development, through new 4th revolution technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and 3D printing.

LEE Yeseung aims to combine the attitudes and ways of thinking that she learned when studying East Asian painting with cutting-edge technology. The work <Mul-A: Gu-Gok-So-Yo No.01>, which catches the eye of viewers from the exhibition hall and lobby, is a playground presented by digital technology where tradition and modernity as well as reality and imagination interact freely, inspired by traditional culture. 

By scanning a QR code, viewers can see unexpected, impressive images that look like old East Asian paintings, and walking around the exhibition hall with the filter turned on allows viewers to experience the space as a new, rapturous playground where chaekgado unfold beyond time and space.
